Acht de Commissie de veroordeling van Fazil Say in strijd met de vrijheid van meningsuiting en derhalve ook met de Criteria van Kopenhagen?
Is de Commissie derhalve ertoe bereid de turs met Turkije te beëindigen? Zo neen, hoezeer dient de situatie in Turkije verder te verslechteren voordat de Commissie tot de conclusie komt dat Turkije nóóit tot de EU zal willen of kunnen toetreden? De Commissie is op de hoogte van de door het geachte Parlementslid gesignaleerde kwestie.
Zij blijft de rechtszaak tegen Fazil Say op de voet volgen. Deze laatste heeft na zijn veroordeling tot een voorwaardelijke gevangenisstraf van tien maanden, om heroverweging verzocht.
